Founding Partner, President and Construction Director
Roman Salazar is a founding partner of Edificar and leads the company since its inception. He has handled major challenges including the growth the company has experienced since its foundation in 1984, as well as leading Edificar´s most demanding project so far, the Four Seasons Hotel in Península de Papagayo. Roman is responsible for all constructions and oversees all projects with the help of regional project managers. Roman is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica and has a Masters in Business Administration.


Founding Partner, Vice President and Marketing Director


Technical Services Director
Luis Araya directly supervises the departments of Quality Management, Technical Assistance and Productivity. He joined Edificar in 1993, and he has held the post of Director of Technical Services since. During his career, he has worked for the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad and the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery in Project Management positions. Luis is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. He also has a Masters in Business Administration.


Administrative Director
Mauricio Castro directly supervises the departments of Human Resourses, Suppliesand Administration. He joined Edificar in 1998, and he has held the post of Administrative Director since. During his career, he has worked for the Costa Rican Petroleum Refinery and UNISYS in Management positions. Mauricio is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. He also has a Masters in Business Administration.


Project Director
Mauricio Laurent serves as Project Director in Edificar Panama. He works in Edificar since 2001 and during his career he has handled major projects including the supervision of the rooms, main building, pools and golf clubhouse of the Four Seasons Hotel in Peninsula Papagayo. Prior to Edificar, he worked at Gálvez y Volio, where he served as Resident Project Engineer. Mauricio is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica and holds a Masters in Business Administration.


Project Director
Raul Goddard began his career in Edificar in 1997 as a resident architect, where he participated in important projects such as Marriot Los Sueños Hotel in Playa Herradura. In 2000 he assumed the post of Project Manager and since 2006 he serves as Project Director for the Central Pacific with projects such as: Vista Las Palmas Condominium and Vista Mar Condominium in Jacó. Raul is a bachelor in architecture from the North Carolina State Univesity and has an architecture degree from the University of Costa Rica. Raúl also has a Masters in Business Administration.


Project Director
Carmen Penabad started in Edificar in the year 2000 as a Project Manager. Since 2007 she serves as Project Director for San Jose with projects such as: Country Wide and Flex in the East Free Zone, Continental, Moog and St. Jude Medical in Coyol Free Zone, Spa of the Costa Rica Marriott Hotel and Le Parc Condominium. Carmen is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. She also has a Masters in Business Administration from the Autonomous University of Madrid


Quality Management Systems Manager
Carolina Cascante started in Edificar in the year 2002 as manager of the unit of Quality Management System. Under her management, Edificar achieved certification under the ISO 9001-00 standard in September 2005 and under the OHSAS 18001-07 standart in November 2006. Carolina is currently collaborating with the implementation of Lean Construction continuous improvement system. Carolina is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica.


Chief Financial Officer
Robert Acuña started working in Edificar in the year 2005 and has served as CFO since 2007. He previously served as Accountant in Chief. From his current position he coordinates the area of accounting and treasury, as well as all negotiations with financial institutions. Prior to Edificar, Robert worked in the Public Services Regulating Authority (ARESEP), ELCA Corporation and BCT Corporation. Robert holds a degree in Accounting and a Masters in Business Administration with financial emphasis.


Preconstruction Services Manager
David Pardo started working in Edificar in the year 2007 and has served as Plannning and Budget Manager since 2008. He previusly served as Project and Pre-Construction Enginner. From its current position he coordinates Preconstrucción and Budgeting Department, he also supports the Marketing Division. David is a graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Costa Rica. He also has a Masters in Construction Managment.
